Comrade acrimony, formerly known just as acrimony, is a fourthwaver whose participation in the Newspeak Dictionary forums spiked in May of 2007 and has since tapered off. She has since been a genuine absentee, lurking sporadically, finally returning to the forums and resuming contribution in August.

Her original political affiliation was designated as “Nihilist.” However, she has since sidelined Nietzsche as a fascinating philosopher but one humanity must cherry-pick from and not take at face value. Albert Camus said: “If Nietzsche and Hegel serve as alibis to the masters of Dachau and Karaganda, that does not condemn their entire philosophy. But it does lead to the suspicion that one aspect of their thought, or of their logic, can lead to these appalling conclusions.” That is why she no longer identifies herself as a Nihilist.
She is now listed as a Democratic Socialist, a strategic move done in solidarity with the other leftists of the forum, as part of an initiative authored by Kirov when Mephistopheles stepped down from his previous role as the forum’s ideological leader of the DemSoc movement.
She is an atheist, rationalist and hylozoist. Her personal philosophy, distinct from her socialism, is absurdism with a humanist modus operandi.
She displays a francophilia similar to the russophilia of Comrade Kirov. She has an avid interest in French language, history and culture, as well as an interest in general history, linguistics, anthropology, medical science, film, sequential art, music and the practice of subversive and seditious acts through self-expression.
She holds as icons worthy of particular veneration rationalists of antiquity such as Lucretius; pioneers of the general paradigm shift that ushered in the enlightenment such as Giordano Bruno; résistants such as Jean Moulin, the Aubracs and Missak Manouchian; and holds as a model for all aspects of existence Albert Camus, an exceptional thinker who both championed socialistic, egalitarian ideas and insisted that freedom and human rights must be maintained at all costs, produced brilliant literary and philosophical works, articulated the possibility of giving meaning to life by seeking to better the human condition even in an absurd universe, and practiced what he believed.
Her username stems from a like for the class of confrontational a-words such as acerbic, acrimonious and acidic, and her affinity for language that sometimes borders on invective.

Her most voluminous contribution was an essay entitled Undesigning the World: How the Inept Religious Right Has Coopted Science Under the Name "Intelligent Design", a 5,000-word polemic against the teaching of faith-based explanations of the existence of the complexity of life.
Her posts for the most part are pithy, some of them even coming close to unacceptable brevity.
She usually joins in discussions of general philosophy, economic models, history, the relationship between the state and the citizen, arts and literature, dystopian and speculative theory, the Master and his work, current events, science, and the various forms and causes of non-rational thought (superstition, religion, prejudice, ignorance, etc.).
She is most likely to start threads about philosophy (sometimes with a thanatotic bent), religion, news articles, linguistics, Orwell minutiae, and film/literature/music/art/theatre.

Upon first meeting rats, Acrimony extended goodwill towards him and befriended him for a time, a reflexive reaction to his perceived “underdog” status on the forums. She gradually acquired a more ambivalent attitude as she learned more about his personality, beliefs, and posting style. She eventually joined most of the forum in opposing him, although she engaged him much less in direct argument and thus was not a truly active participant in the Batshit Wars.
