Purge
From NewspeakWiki
Purge - The process of removing groups of unwanted members from Ingsoc; the main technique is to arrest them on false premises and imprison them in a joycamp or even execute them. The first great purges took place in the 1950s, for which Winston Smith believes that his parents fell victim; they have been followed by an unspecified number of major and minor purges. The greatest purges took place in the mid-1960s; by the year 1970, all old leaders had been wiped out.
In cases involving high Inner Party members, there are sometimes show trials where the accused confess a multitude of crimes, evidently after long imprisonment and extreme torture, but this is a rare occurrence.
