[edit] Meph's trip to Permabanistan
Mephistopheles was banned. Then he wasn't.
[edit] Background
Mephistopheles is a very active poster who joined a couple of years ago. He had been involved a number of "flame-wars" since.
[edit] Origins of his Username
Drhzen originated from his still-writing full-length novel, Titan, as the main character. Finding himself too playful for his own good, he changed his username to Loki which would best describe him at the time. Suffering from depression and schizophrenia, he decided to change his name to a more morbid, somber Mephistopheles, a demon from the book Faust by Goethe. He then added Comrade to his name to represent his adherence to Democratic Socialism, along with several other notable members of the forum. A brief stint as Dominionist brough about a name-change to Morgoth. He changed his name afterwards to express his change in philosophy towards social democracy.
[edit] Biography
Under construction.
[edit] Religion
Mephistopheles came to the forum as an agnostic, later becoming somewhat of an atheist, later a Christian for a brief time. Being a Christian ironically opened his mind to tolerance for other people's beliefs, something many forum-goers need to learn themselves. After leaving Christianity due to frustration with apologetics and self-denial of certain passages, he turned to agnosticism, and later, to pantheism. I, Mephistopheles, would describe my beliefs as being pantheistic because I believe we are all God, and God is all of us. I believe in eternal recurrance and in reincarnation.
[edit] Politics
The main writer of the DemSoc Manifesto (Democratic Socialism Manifesto), Mephistopheles is also the main writer of the TechSynd Manifesto (Technocratic Syndicalist Manifesto). He describes himself as a Social Democrat, which means he believes in direct or representative democracy and in oligarchial or worker-controlled businesses, factories, and farms.
[edit] Morality
While I do think on some cases morality is subjective, I do have a set of morality which isn't codified but which I try to live by. I believe in honesty, bluntness, and charity. I believe human actions can be evil or can be good, and I believe statements can be evil or can be good. I believe some statements made by two forum-goers as of November-December 2007 which condone and show apathy to genocide are evil.
