Ingsoc helicopter - In the movie adaptation from 1984, a police helicopter can be seen hovering outside Winston Smith's apartment window, just like in the novel. The helicopter in the movie is the classic model Bell 47, probably the most common model 47G. This model was introduced already in 1953 and became famous during the Korean War; it can be seen in many M*A*S*H episodes.
The Bell 47G was also used by the British Army under the name Sioux AH.1 until the early 1980s; since the movie was filmed in the UK in 1984, this would obviously make sense.
The helicopter in the movie might have been modified: A dark canopy seems to have been added to make the vessel look more menacing. However, the Bell 47 came in various shapes, so it might be an original design.
