Forum Ranks

Forum Ranks - The ranking system of the Newspeak Dictionary BBS is inspired by the hierarchy in Oceania as presented in Nineteen Eighty-Four. The ranks are determined by the number of posts you have submitted, so you gain rank simply by posting.

Below are the different ranks listed in ascending order and with the requirements in parenthesis:


  • Filthy Animal (only registration)
  • Ignorant Prole (2 posts)
  • Prole (5 posts)
  • Junior Spy (20 posts)
  • Spy (84 posts)
  • Outer Party (144 posts)
  • Committee Member (256 posts)
  • Committee Leader (480 posts)
  • Inner Party Member (666 posts)
  • Inner Party Leader (1000 posts)
  • Minister of Peace (1215 posts)
  • Minister of Plenty (1492 posts)
  • Minister of Love (1776 posts)
  • Minister of Truth (1984 posts)
  • Big Brother (administrator exclusive)


The three biggest events in the life of a forum member is when he or she becomes an Outer Party member (144 posts), an Inner Party member (666 posts), and a Minister (1215 posts). High rank doesn't entail any special privileges, at least not officially. Maybe there really is an Inner Party, maybe there isn't...

There are no official guidelines for when you become a regular - basically, the other regulars decide when you are a worthy member of the clan. Usually, this doesn't happen before a forum members has been around for a year or two and posted fairly frequently.
