Flightgate

Flightgate was a period of time when Comrade Mephistopheles Threatened to leave the forum over an accident, before Zoongate.

The problem started on April 27th. User JOHNNYBEGOOD posted a screenshot from his favorite video game "Silent Hill" (apparently one of the nurse demons) on Mephistopheles' thread "Most Influential Photograph", claiming that it was the famous Oslo Accords handshake. Mephistopheles got more than a little upset at this, asking that it be removed. JOHNNY denied that it was anything but the Oslo accords handshake. The conflict seemed to have subsided when, a week later, to thwart the apparent "injustice", he posted an image of Tubgirl on a thread by JOHNNY. This was, at first, moved to the "Most Influential Photograph" thread, and later deleted.

When he learned that Tubgirl had been deleted, Mephi started a thread to protest. He then proceeded to tell his side of the story, by protesting that while moderators believed JOHNNY had the right to keep his image on the thread, Mephi had his rights infringed on when his "Tubgirl" image was deleted. He threatened to leave the forum unless the "injustice" was rectified. Within an hour of posting, JOHNNY memory holed the offending image from his post. It still survives in a quote just above a picture of the actual Oslo Accords handshake. The Tubgirl image, fortunately, is no longer on the forum. The flame war was officially declared over after a short while. This eventually set the stage for Zoongate over a month later.
