Ministry of Peace

The Ministry of Peace (Newspeak: Minipax) is one of the four major ministries responsible for managing the affairs of state in Oceania. These buildings are described in the book as being magnificent skyscrapers, standing in bitter contrast to the decaying metropolitan areas surrounding them. The main concern of this particular ministry is the conducting of the perpetual war, which gives citizens of Oceania an external force to focus their hate and anger towards. As with the other ministry's, the function of this ministry is in direct contradiction with its name, this can only be overlooked by a skilled practitioner of doublethink.
